EP 1: Who is NJRI
Episode I: Who is NJRI?
Hey everyone, I’m Dr. Jay Bowen. I’m a board-certified physiatrist here at New Jersey Regenerative Institute, or NJRI. I work together with Dr. Thomas Agesen to provide non-surgical solutions to orthopedic problems. Our goal here is to help you release your intrinsic ability to heal yourself.
We are located in Parsippany, NJ right off of route 80 and route 46. This location offers convenient treatment for anyone in the tri-state area.

NJRI was founded with the late Dr. Gerry Malanga. Dr. Malanga was a great friend and a pioneer in the field of regenerative medicine. He trained Dr. Agesen and myself at Kessler Institute for Rehab before we went into practice together and we pride ourselves on carrying on his legacy of exceptional care.
We had been collecting outcomes data since 1999, but as you can imagine the data was extremely cumbersome. Since it was difficult to manage but still important to us, Drs. Malanga, Rogers, and I founded DataBiologics in 2018 to track patient outcomes. Essentially, DataBiologics is a digital tool that transforms real-world data into actionable insight. Over the last year, DataBiologics has grown enormously under our CEO Leah Braddell. DataBiologics has been essential to our goal of improving patient outcomes.
Here at NJRI, our goal is to find approaches that allow you to avoid surgical intervention like knee and hip replacements. We help you to unlock your intrinsic ability to heal yourself. That sounds great, but what does this actually mean?
Regenerative Medicine is a confusing umbrella term that has turned into a buzzword recently. The field is relatively new, with the Mayo Clinic endorsing it for the first time in 2020. Our focus is on addressing neuromusculoskeletal or orthopedic problems using your body’s drug store to facilitate healing.
Therefore, physicians in this area have started to use the term orthobiologics. Whatever you call it, the goal is to provide a safe treatment option with limited down time to improve function and restore your quality of life.
When you walk into the office at NJRI our goal is to actively listen to your story, and quickly find solutions to address your pain. All of our procedures are done in office and rarely cause you to miss more than a few days of work. In fact, you are usually back to the same level of function a week later. We are stimulating your body to heal itself, which takes time so this should not be thought of as magic with instant resolution, but rather a process that also includes the mind, diet, and biomechanics. If you want to learn more about specific conditions and treatment options for bone, cartilage, joint, muscle, and nerves you know what to do - Hit that like button. It costs you nothing and helps us. Subscribe and click the bell to be notified of our upcoming information.
Thanks for listening and joining us on our journey to educate the public on the options and benefits of regenerative medicine. You can also find us on our website njregenerativeinstitute.com , TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, and X which are all linked in our bio and pinned in the comments below. Feel free to give us a call to schedule an appointment or find out more information at (973) 998-8309.
