Achilles Tendon

An Achilles Tendon injury is when the tendon that connects from your calf muscles to the back of your heel bone ruptures (completely or partially). It is a common tendon to injure, but may also result from overuse leading to weakening and degeneration. Many Achilles tendon injuries are caused by not stretching enough before strenuous physical activity, overuse, fallen arches, wearing high heels and sports such as football, volleyball, and baseball. Symptoms are usually a popping noise during an activity when the injury happens, swelling near the heel, difficulty flexing, standing on, and/or pointing your toes, stiffness, and feeling like you have experienced a kick to your calf.
