How it Works
Regenerative Medicine (Stem Cell Therapy) can be compared to planting a garden with the cells thought of “seeds” which can grow under the right conditions into various tissues such as ligaments, cartilage, tendon and bone.
The growth factors (SCP/PL) can be thought of as a “fertilizer” which assists the seeds into growing. The dextrose injection causes a stirring or healthy inflammation of the underlying tissues. Using the gardening analogy, this would be considered similar to placing seeds in an already prepared/tilled soil. Take growth facts as fertilizers, which are necessary for the seeds and prepared soil. Just like in planting, you prepare the soil first and then places the seeds followed by fertilizer to allow the cells to grow and differentiate. We then inject the growth factors again for as a re-fertilization about a week later to foster further stem cell growth and development.
This treatment is not an overnight cure, but you can improve the quality of your cells before they are harvested for a procedure. Regenerative Medicine (Stem Cell Therapy) stimulates the growth and repair of tissues by setting in motion a repair mechanism, which in turn requires time and rehabilitation. Pain and mild swelling at the point of injection can occur two days after. The first four weeks patients are advised to take it easy and not do any aggressive or repetitive activities. After that, they can gradually build up their activity levels as the weeks go on. Typically, the pain relief is greatly lessened over a 6-month period.

Here is our list to consider:
1. Cut Processed Sugar-Processed sugar that can be found in such American staples like bread, juice, dessert, pasta, etc. causes your body to produce too much insulin. When this is combined with little exercise, it causes a metabolic syndrome. You’ll want to limit your sugar intake over the next few months before your procedure.
2. Reduce Caloric Intake-Two weeks before your cells are taken reduce your food intake by 20%. This calorie restriction improves the function of the cells.
3. Reduce Triglycerides-Triglycerides are related to excess weight. They store carbohydrates that go unused. Cells tend to grow poorly in patients with high TRG, so reduce your carbs and calories as well as measuring triglycerides before they are harvested.
4. Cardio/Aerobic Exercise and Weight Lifting-Exercise and weight lifting increases muscle cells as well as the cells that create more bone. We don’t expect you to be an Olympic athlete over night, but try pushing your exercise level by an extra 20-30%.
5. Take Vitamin Supplements-Get outside in the sun or take some Vitamin D3. Vitamin D and D3 helps reduce the aging of cells as well as making them healthier. Some other common supplements that help with cells and cartilage are Glucosamine, Vitamin C, Curcumin, Quercetin, and Chondroitin.
6. Consider Bio-identical hormone supplementation-They can increase the number of cells harvested.
7. Take Resveratol-Resveratol is found in red wine as well as being a supplement, so take your pick (drink red wine in moderation though). It helps control your blood sugar levels.
8. Low Oxygen-Low oxygen levels help cells to work successfully and grow. You could possibly consider a vacation to a high altitude spot before your cell’s procedure.
9. Do Not Take Quinalone Antibiotics-These antibiotics hurt cells. They are usually given for dental, orthopedic and UTI infections.
10. Do Not Take Prescription Drugs-Prescription drugs inhibit stem cell growth. Please talk to your doctor to find out if your are on a drug that is bad for your cells. 1-2 weeks is enough time to get off of them before your procedure.
11. Stay Active After Your Procedure-Decreased activity in fact hinders cartilage healing, so remember to stay fit after your procedure. Consult with your doctor on what activities and levels you may resume.
